Elad Schechter
Elad Schechter is a dancer, choreographer, curator and cultural initiator. A masters student at the ‘Global Leaders Institute’, graduated from the Jerusalem High School for the Arts, and served in the IDF Theater department. Schechter was dancing in various dance companies, among them: Senedance NYC, the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Charleroi Danses (Brussels), Vertigo (Jerusalem). Elad served as rehearsal director to Noa Wertheim at the ‘Vertigo Dance company’ and to Sahar Azimi. In 2009 he founded and directed the Young Vertigo dance company in which he started creating dance pieces. In 2012 he founded the c.a.t.a.m.o.n Dance Group in Jerusalem. His works have been presented hundreds of times in Israel and abroad and have received the highest acclaims. Schechter is the recipient of the silver medal at the International Choreography Competition held in Beijing, July 2011. He is an elected member of the cultural institutions committee of the city of Jerusalem since 2019. He lives in the Musrara neighborhood and raises his son and daughter in shared parenthood, with a woman couple.
Over the years, aside from dance creations, Schechter has initiated, produced and curated several projects; ‘From Jaffa to Agripas’ Festival since 2014. ‘Alliance House’ – a home for creative communities opened in the center of Jerusalem 2016.‘Interstices’ Montréal-Jerusalem artistic exchange for cultural identity enhancement – commenced in 2016 using the power of dance as a non-verbal mediator between cultures. ‘Room Service’ festival – bringing together dance and instrumental music using the various hotels in Jerusalem.
