The group is a young cultural organization, which seeks to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the Jerusalem audience in all its diversity. c.a.t.a.m.o.n seek to present this dialogue to all audiences in the country, and around the world. c.a.t.m.o.n is developing a unique artistic language that brings the human body into the public sphere of Jerusalem, thus contributing to the dialogue and communication between the different cultures of Jerusalem. Dance is an international language and can bridge above cultural differences. c.a.ta.m.o.n sees the human body presencing in Jerusalem’s public spaces as a mission and a major task.
c.a.t.a.m.o.n is home to artists of various kinds; dancers, choreographers, musicians, video artists, sound, graphic designers and many others. The vast majority of these artists live and work in Jerusalem. The group is working on many levels to connect various artists to the dance world and promote this art to audiences in Jerusalem and outside of it.
Since July 2012, c.a.t.a.m.o.n produced 16 original pieces. Five of those choreographed by Elad Schechter – artistic director and founder of c.a.t.a.m.o.n. Eleven original pieces, choreographed by guest choreographers, were produced as part of ‘From Jaffa to Agripas’ dance in Mahane Yehuda market events.
Since its inception in 2012, the group performed over 100 performances. About half of them in the city of Jerusalem and a half across communities in Israel and around the world.
